MENTORING PROGRAM
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Through working with youth and adults, we have seen that youth benefit tremendously from positive role models. Role models are an essential part in a youth’s positive development and can show them hope, determination, and ways to overcome obstacles.
Our vision is to connect more youth in Holyoke to positive caring adult mentors. Our goal is to expand our mentoring program by connecting an additional 300 youth with both a one on one mentor. All mentees will also be connected with a larger group mentoring program.
Mentoring is done through our sports leagues and will also be done through Big Brothers/Big Sisters and other mentoring agencies in Hampden County as a way to introduce and engage youth in mentoring.
COST
There is no cost to participate in any of our Programs. Our goal has always been to give every youth in Holyoke the opportunity to be included in activities.
LOCATION
Our current mentoring program is mentoring youth that attends Peck School and it is both an in-school mentoring program and a community mentoring program. Our community-based program will be focused on youth in Holyoke and the mentoring will take place in the community.
